Tiles :: Buying Tiles

When buying tiles we encourage you to take time over the selection process. They are a permanent fixture & we want you to be delighted with the end result.

Like paint & fabrics tiles are manufactured in batches. We will never mix batches for the same area. All reputable tile manufacturers will stamp a batch number on the side of the box under the heading “tono” or “shade”.

The calibration will also be stamped on the box. This refers to the sizing of the tile within the batch & may change from batch to batch. Mixed calibrations are unacceptable as they are difficult to lay well & could spoil the end result.

When you buy tiles from Ceramico we’ll supply you with a sheet recording all this information along with the name & size of the tile, the tiler’s name & contact details plus the grout colour to keep for your records.

Q.   Do you have enough tiles?
A.   We include a 10% wastage factor in our calculations but the final layout can result in a difference between the calculated amount and the actual number of tiles required

Q.   Do you have any spare tiles?
A.   We recommend that you keep some spare tiles as there can be a colour and calibration difference between subsequent batches

Q.   Colour Variation?
A.   Colour variation is inherent in the design of many tiles and is part of their beauty. If you are laying the tiles yourself please ensure you select tiles from several boxes at a time to ensure an even mix
